Really appreciate if someone can give me some insights about the upgrade process from VMware Workstation Pro 14 to 16 version. View solution in original post. So, does this mean, every time VMWare Workstation has a new version, 14 to 15, 15 to 16, 16 to 17, we have to purchase a new license?

No, there is a "bettter" discount for buying the next version. Generally Vmware has allowed you to skip a version then still be able to buy with an upgrade price. I believe they have a policy that if you buy right before a release they will give you the new release verison so if you buy 16 and then the next week 17 in release vmware in the past has allow you to upgrade for free.

I think if you don't like Scott answer you need to provide more details about what your considered about. Once you buy the new license and download VMware Workstation - it should be a similar enough installer I am not sure where you would get into trouble - enter the license key and reboot the host machine.

Not that I don't like Scotts answer, just wanted to find out if we need to pay for upgrades or if they are included in the initial purchase.
